Will my name show up on the Caller ID?
Your name will only show up on the Caller ID if the person you're calling has your TextFree number saved in their phone under your name.
We do not link our customers' names to their TextFree number; that information is not shared nor can it be accessed via the app. Therefore, your recipient will see only your TextFree number by default.
Can I hide/block my Caller ID?
Unfortunately, there's no option to "hide" or "restrict" your TextFree number from the person you're calling.
If you wish to keep your number anonymous, it is best to use *67 (then input the phone number with the area code you wish to call) using a non-TextFree number.
Why does the recipient of my call see Spam on their Caller ID?
If the recipient sees "Spam, Scam Likely, or Spam Likely" on their Caller ID screen, unfortunately, this issue stems from the recipient's Carrier. Their Carrier is marking your TextFree number as spam; it is not something controlled or resolved on our end, unfortunately.
The only advice we have is to change your TextFree number in hopes that the new number you choose will not be marked as spam. If you have changed your number before or need assistance choosing a new number, we're here to help.
Why am I receiving calls from numbers that look like mine?
If you're receiving numbers that look very similar to your TextFree number, this is a case of your number/Caller ID being "Spoofed."
This is an industry-wide issue, and we have detailed information and how to handle it in this article: Caller ID Spoofing and Spam Calls.
