Not receiving local phone numbers?

Note: This article pertains to choosing a local phone number for use with the TextFree app. 

When choosing a local phone number to use as your TextFree number, you should first make sure you have location services enabled for TextFree. Otherwise, you will be presented with a list of numbers at random (not necessarily in the area code that you desire).

Please note: Local numbers only apply to US-based numbers.

  To turn on Location Services for TextFree:

1. Device 'Settings'
2. 'General' tab
3. Tap 'Apps & notifications'
4. Tap 'App permissions'
5. Scroll to 'Your location'
6. Scroll to 'TextFree' and swipe right to enable location permission (if you do not see it in green currently)

Now, when you access the app to choose a phone number, you'll be presented with area codes available nearest to you.

 To turn on Location Services for TextFree:

1. Device Settings
2. Scroll to 'Privacy and Security'
3. Tap 'Location Services'
4. Scroll to find TextFree
5. Allow location access: Tap 'While using the app'
   • This means the app will have access to your location only while you use it 

Now, when you access the app to choose a phone number, you'll be presented with area codes available nearest to you.
