Why does TextFree need "Full Access" to my contacts?
TextFree requires full access to your phone's contacts for two main reasons:
- To identify who is calling you.
- To display your phone's contacts in TextFree's address book.
Note: Granting full access to contacts enhances your experience with TextFree. We do not share your contact information; it remains private and secure within TextFree.
What happens if I "Limit Access" to contacts?
For TextFree to work as intended, you should not limit access. If you only allow access to certain contacts, you will face these issues:
- Your call screen will show only the phone number, not the contact name.
- Only the contacts you give TextFree access to will be displayed in TextFree (so it will look like you're missing contacts).
FYI: The "Limited Access" feature is optional for iPhone users on iOS 18, allowing them to restrict an app's access to specific contacts.
How to give full access
If you previously limited access or denied TextFree permission to contacts, you can change this in Settings easily! Here's how:
- View your iPhone Settings.
- Scroll down to Apps and open.
- Find the TextFree app and open.
- Tap on Contacts and update permission to “Full Access”
